A Nice Weekend

This past weekend turned out to be gorgeous! We did quite a bit, but somehow I did not feel rushed or hurried. Maybe because I experienced "heaven on earth" Saturday morning. For a while now I have been dreaming of getting my nails done and getting a french pedicure. As most of you know this is usually not a reality for various reasons. Well let me say that I would like to make this a habit! (At least the pedicure part!) I was not expecting the reclining chair to have a built in massage system including heat and a remote control so I could adjust the settings. Wow! I think I just about dosed off at one point.

That was until I looked up and saw a Mother with her three children, two of whom were young boys who sat down beside me. The boys looked to be around maybe 9 and 11 years old. It caused quite a stir in the nail salon as we all gasped and sat with our mouths open looking on as these boys sat down for their pedicures and manicures. The mom said it was the only way to get their toenails clean. I just thought it was too funny as I looked over at them getting the hot wax treatment on their feet. An older lady kept saying they would just go out barefoot and mess them up. I guess they get this done all the time. I remember my first manicure was probably right before my Senior Prom. I just kept thinking "These boys are going to be high maitenance some day!" Anyway, I guess we all have different ways of expressing our love.

On Saturday, we spent time with Shane's mom for Mother's Day. We went to the International Mall in Tampa and had dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. It was nice to have dinner with family and to just walk around the mall browsing through all the shops. Christian works at the mall and was able to join us for dinner. Landon loved his Aunt Alyssa pushing him around in the stoller! Grandpa provided entertainment while waiting for our food and Landon loved all the attention, getting gum from Grandma, and singing his "Potty Seat" song for everyone at the table!

On Sunday, my parents (Gram and Poppa) went to our church where Ms. Bea, our pastor's wife, gave an illustrated sermon. She also spoke last Mother's Day and I still remember the message. It is amazing how the visual aids and props really help you hear and retain the message.

We went out to lunch at Applebee's which turned out to be pretty good. On Sunday afternoon, I took my Mom to see the sculptures at the Barnett Family Park on Lake Mirror. The exhibit is scheldued to be moved to the next city but the city of Lakeland purchased some of the sculptures to be kept in the park as they have been such a hit! I think Landon wore my Dad flat out! He took several naps during the visit! He and Landon came up with a new football version of ping pong! Very entertaining!

It was great to be able to spend time with all of our family! We are truly blessed!

Wow! It sounds like you had lots of fun! Since I just went to the International Mall for the first time a couple of weeks ago I'm jealous and miss everybody lots. A pedicure sounds nice too...

Ah...pedicures. I love them and don't get them enough.

I'll have to request that for some occasion...but nothing is coming up anytime soon.
